The HERTEL 72009004 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal workpieces. It machines to a 0.0900-inch diameter, making it suitable for tight-tolerance bore work in the lower end of the small-diameter range. The overall length is 3 inches with a 0.75-inch flute length, and the straight-cylindrical shank seats cleanly in standard drill chucks or collets. Constructed from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this four-flute reamer cuts right-hand with consistent material removal on through-holes and blind bores in production and job-shop environments. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary users.
This reamer is suited for light finishing passes on drilled or bored holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals where close diameter tolerances and smooth surface finish are required. The 0.0900-inch size is common in precision instrument work, hydraulic component manufacture, pin-hole finishing, and fixture-plate work. The straight flute geometry performs well in short-chipping materials such as cast iron, brass, and free-machining steels. It is intended for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, manual lathes, and tapping heads capable of maintaining true alignment.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a straight-cylindrical shank at this diameter range.
This tool is installed by a machinist or toolroom technician in a drill chuck or precision collet matched to the shank diameter. The machine spindle must be aligned with the pre-drilled hole before engaging the reamer to avoid bell-mouthing or chatter. Always apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material and run at recommended reaming speeds, which are generally lower than drilling speeds. Inspect the reamer cutting edges before each use and replace if chipping or wear is observed.
