The HERTEL 72008006 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking applications. Machined from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer measures 0.0800 inches in diameter with a 3-inch overall length and a 3/4-inch flute length. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks or collets. With 4 right-hand flutes, it produces a clean, accurately sized bore when used in drilling machines, lathes, or machining centers. It is intended for use by machinists and tooling professionals requiring tight-tolerance finishes on small-diameter through-holes.
This reamer is suited for finish-reaming operations on small bores in ferrous and non-ferrous metals in both job shop and production environments. It falls within the 0.0500 to 0.0999 inch decimal-inch reamer diameter range, making it a standard choice for small-bore work where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical. Typical applications include fixture components, precision assemblies, and tooling details requiring close-tolerance hole sizing. The compact size suits bench-mounted drill presses as well as CNC and manual lathes.
Designed as a standard straight-cylindrical-shank chucking reamer for use in drill chucks, collet holders, and similar workholding setups on drill presses, lathes, and machining centers that accept straight-shank tooling in the applicable size range.
Chucking reamers are installed and used by machinists; always de-energize and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized chuck or collet to prevent runout. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve bore finish. Pre-drill the hole to the correct undersize before reaming to avoid overloading the flutes.
