The HERTEL 72005655 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers accurate sizing on through-holes and blind holes in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The reamer measures 0.0565 inches in diameter with a 2.5-inch overall length and a 0.5-inch flute length. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Four right-hand cutting flutes provide smooth material removal and consistent surface finish at the final hole dimension. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the typical users of this tool.
This reamer is suited for light-duty precision reaming operations on the bench or in CNC and manual machining centers where close-tolerance bore sizing is required. Its small diameter places it in the 0.0500 to 0.0999 inch decimal inch range, making it appropriate for fine instrument bores, hydraulic component passages, and similar small-diameter finish operations. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of one piece.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in any machine tool spindle or hand-held drill chuck accepting a straight-cylindrical shank at this diameter range; confirm chuck or collet capacity before installation.
Chucking reamers are installed by machinists or tool-and-die technicians in a drill press, lathe tailstock, or CNC machining center. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is de-energized before inserting or removing the reamer. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the work material to extend tool life and maintain surface finish. Do not use a chucking reamer to remove more stock than the pre-drilled hole allowance supports; always drill the bore to the proper undersize before reaming.
