The HERTEL 72004153 is a high-speed steel (HSS) chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal machining applications. With a reamer diameter of 0.0415 inches and a straight-cylindrical shank, it mounts directly in standard chucks or collets for accurate, repeatable sizing. The bright, uncoated HSS construction provides good wear resistance across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Four straight flutes in a right-hand cutting direction deliver clean chip evacuation and a consistent finish in through-holes and blind holes. Overall length is 2.5 inches with a 0.5 inch flute length, making it well suited for shallow reaming operations in production and tool room environments.
This chucking reamer is used in manual and CNC drill press, lathe, or milling machine setups where a finished hole in the 0 to 0.0499 inch diameter range is required. It is appropriate for general-purpose production reaming in job shops, maintenance facilities, and precision machining operations. The straight flute geometry makes it a practical choice for reaming short-length holes in steel, aluminum, brass, and similar machinable alloys. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers and users of this tool.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, and milling machines accepting a straight-cylindrical shank tool in the 0 to 0.0499 inch diameter range.
This reamer is installed and operated by machinists and toolroom technicians. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable tolerance. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve finish quality. Pre-drill or bore the hole to proper size before reaming, as chucking reamers are finishing tools and are not designed for stock removal.
