The HERTEL 71205686 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal, wood, and plastics. Built from high speed steel with an oxide finish, it delivers reliable performance in standard shop and field applications. The bit features a 118-degree point angle, a web-thinned tapered web for easier penetration, and a 2-flute right-hand spiral flute configuration. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard 3-jaw chucks. At 9/64 inch (0.1406 inch decimal) diameter, it fits within the 0.1000 to 0.1500 inch size range commonly stocked for light-duty drilling tasks. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals use this bit for precision hole-starting and through-drilling in production and repair work.
This bit is suited for general-purpose drilling in residential and commercial maintenance environments, fabrication shops, and field service applications. The 9/64 inch diameter is a common size for pilot holes, fastener clearance, and light metalworking operations. The 1-3/4 inch flute length provides adequate chip clearance for the bit depth, and the overall 2-7/8 inch length is compatible with standard drill chucks and hand-held power drills. No coolant-through capability means this bit is intended for ambient-condition drilling without internal coolant feed.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard 3-jaw drill chuck accepting a 9/64 inch straight-cylindrical shank, including bench drill presses and handheld power drills.
Install and remove drill bits only when the drill or drill press is fully powered off and at a complete stop. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck and verify concentricity before drilling. Use appropriate work-holding fixtures to prevent workpiece movement during drilling operations. Follow applicable shop safety standards and wear proper eye protection when operating rotary cutting tools.
