The HERTEL 7000070 is a left-hand A-SDUP indexable boring bar designed for internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built from steel with a 3/4-inch shank diameter and 10-inch overall length, it accepts DP-series inserts secured by a screw-clamping method. The 0.98-inch minimum bore diameter and -3-degree lead angle make it suited for tight-bore applications where precise wall clearance is critical. Through-coolant capability, fed via a 1/8-27 NPT coolant port, delivers cutting fluid directly to the insert tip, extending tool life and improving chip evacuation in deep-bore cuts.
This boring bar is used in production and job-shop machining environments for boring, finishing, and light semi-finish turning of internal diameters at or above 0.98 inches. It is appropriate for steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous workpiece materials in both residential-shop and industrial-floor turning applications. The left-hand orientation suits specific machine setups and spindle-direction requirements where a right-hand bar would interfere with the workpiece or toolpost geometry. Machinists and tooling technicians install this bar in standard boring-bar holders or turret tool blocks sized for a 3/4-inch shank.
Accepts DP-series indexable inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 5/32-inch insert thickness. Designed for use in tool blocks or boring-bar holders with a 3/4-inch bore.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and in a locked-out, tagged-out state before mounting or removing the bar. Secure the 3/4-inch shank firmly in the tool block to the holder manufacturer's recommended clamping torque. Connect the coolant supply line to the 1/8-27 NPT inlet only after confirming thread compatibility and using an appropriate thread sealant. Verify insert seating and clamp-screw torque before initiating a cut.
