The HERTEL 7000058 is a left-hand A-MTFN indexable boring bar designed for precision internal turning operations on CNC lathes and boring mills. Built from steel with a 1.5-inch shank diameter and a 14-inch overall length, it accepts TN-style inserts and features through-coolant capability via a 1/4-18 NPT coolant port. The toolholder uses a screw or clamp insert holding method with a negative rake angle of 5 degrees and a 0-degree lead angle, making it well-suited for finish and semi-finish boring passes in tight-tolerance applications. Minimum bore diameter is 1.76 inches. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary users of this holder.
This boring bar is intended for internal diameter machining in a left-hand cutting orientation. The 14-inch OAL provides reach for deeper bore applications common in job shops, production turning cells, and repair machine shops. The 1/2-inch insert inscribed circle and 3/16-inch insert thickness are standard dimensions within the A-MTFN toolholder family, simplifying insert procurement and changeover. Through-coolant delivery improves chip evacuation and extends insert life when machining steel, cast iron, and similar materials at depth.
Designed for use with TN-style inserts with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle and 3/16-inch thickness, as specified for the A-MTFN toolholder style. Compatible boring bar holders of this style mount in standard round-shank tool blocks and gang tooling setups accepting a 1.5-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician familiar with internal turning toolholder setup. Secure the shank fully in the tool block to the correct overhang length before indexing any insert. Ensure the coolant supply line is connected to the 1/4-18 NPT port and the system is purged before initiating a cut. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing inserts.
