The HERTEL 7000014 is a left-hand A-MCLN style indexable boring bar engineered for precision internal turning and boring operations on machining centers and manual lathes. Built from steel, the bar features a 2.0-inch shank diameter and a 16-inch overall length (OAL), providing the reach and rigidity needed for deep-bore applications. It accepts CN-style inserts secured by screw or clamp, runs a negative rake geometry at a -5-degree lead angle, and includes through-coolant capability via a 1/4-18 NPT coolant port, supporting extended cutting performance and chip evacuation in demanding materials.
This boring bar is suited for industrial machining environments where left-hand boring is required, such as back-boring operations or setups where toolpath direction demands a left-hand holder. The 2.4-inch minimum bore diameter and 1.2810-inch center-to-cutting-edge dimension make it appropriate for medium-to-large bore work on CNC turning centers, horizontal boring mills, and manual lathes. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals specify this holder when through-coolant delivery is critical to tool life and surface finish in long-reach applications.
Designed for use with CN-style indexable inserts with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle and 3/16-inch thickness. Confirm insert geometry and chipbreaker selection against the specific workpiece material and cutting conditions before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholder torque and clamping procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the boring bar. Verify shank-to-spindle bore fit and confirm coolant line connection to the 1/4-18 NPT port is leak-free before initiating a cut. Insert indexing or replacement should be performed off the machine when possible, using the appropriate torx or hex key per the insert holding hardware.
