The HERTEL 66694464 is a No. 47 wire-size jobber-length drill bit designed for precision holemaking in metal, wood, and composite materials. Built from high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended wear life and reduced friction in repetitive drilling applications. The 135-degree split point starts on contact without a center punch, reducing walking on flat or curved surfaces. At 2 inches overall length with a 1-inch flute length, this bit fits standard drill chucks and is suited for close-tolerance work where a No. 47 hole diameter of 0.0785 inches is required. Licensed trade professionals and machinists reach for this bit when dimensional accuracy and tool longevity matter.
This jobber drill is used in general-purpose holemaking across light manufacturing, maintenance and repair, HVAC sheet metal work, electrical rough-in, and plumbing applications requiring small-diameter pilot or clearance holes. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard three-jaw drill chucks on corded drills, cordless drills, and drill presses. Its heavy-duty grade construction handles high-cycle production environments as well as single-trade service calls.
Designed as a standard jobber-length drill bit compatible with any three-jaw or collet-style chuck accepting a 0.0785-inch straight-cylindrical shank, covering the 0.0500 to 0.1000 inch drill bit size range for which this series is rated.
Install and remove drill bits only with the drill or press powered off and, where applicable, unplugged or locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed before starting. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous metals to preserve the TiN coating and maintain hole tolerance. Dispose of worn or chipped bits per shop safety protocols to prevent handling injuries.
