The HERTEL 66694183 is a No. 19 wire-size jobber-length drill bit ground from high speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers the thrust required to start a hole, making it well suited for production drilling in steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials. At 3.25 inches overall length with a 2.125-inch flute, this is a standard jobber geometry that fits most drill chucks and CNC toolholders with a 0.1660-inch straight cylindrical shank. The web-thinned, tapered web construction improves chip evacuation and extends tool life under continuous use. Sold individually.
This drill bit is intended for holemaking operations in general metalworking, fabrication shops, maintenance and repair, and light manufacturing environments. The NAS specification designation indicates the bit meets established military and aerospace procurement standards, making it appropriate for applications where dimensional consistency and material quality must be verified. It can be run in hand drills, drill presses, and CNC machining centers. Its heavy-duty grade designation reflects a higher standard of steel selection and heat treatment than commodity import bits, which matters in repetitive-cycle or interrupted-cut applications.
Designed as a standard jobber-length drill bit for use in any drill press, hand drill, or CNC machining center capable of accepting a 0.1660-inch straight shank. Suitable for general metalworking and maintenance applications requiring a No. 19 wire-size hole.
Installation is performed by machinist, toolroom, or maintenance personnel. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout before beginning a cut. Ensure the workpiece is clamped or fixtured before drilling; never hold small workpieces by hand. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the material being drilled to maximize tool life and hole quality.
