The HERTEL 66693441 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-production drilling in metal fabrication, machining, and general shop work. Sized at Letter G (0.2610 inches), it features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and requires no center punch on most materials. The bit is manufactured from high-speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating to extend tool life and reduce friction at the cutting edge. At 2.625 inches overall length, the stub-length body provides added rigidity over jobber-length bits, making it well suited for drill press and CNC turret work where deflection is a concern.
This drill bit is intended for use in machine shop environments, tool rooms, and production drilling operations. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks and collet holders without modification. The web-thinned, parallel-web construction reduces thrust requirements when cutting through mild steel, aluminum, brass, and similar materials. Right-hand spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole applications. This size falls within the 0.2500 to 0.3000 inch decimal range and is classified as heavy duty grade.
Designed as a direct-fit screw machine length drill bit for use in standard 3-jaw drill chucks, keyless chucks, and collet holders accepting a 0.2610-inch straight shank across drill presses, CNC turrets, and manual milling machines.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully within the chuck jaws and verify runout before beginning a cut. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle completely before changing bits or adjusting chuck position. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material, and inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use.
