The HERTEL 66693151 is a No. 29 wire-size jobber-length drill bit ground from high speed steel and coated with TiAlN for extended tool life in production holemaking. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust compared to conventional 118-degree grinds. The web-thinned, tapered web design further reduces cutting resistance. At 0.1360 inches in decimal diameter with a 1-3/4-inch flute length and 2-7/8-inch overall length, this bit fits standard straight-cylindrical chuck applications in both handheld and machine setups. Two right-hand spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently during drilling operations.
This bit is suited for metalworking, light fabrication, and maintenance applications where wire-gauge hole sizes are required. Common install scenarios include drilling pilot holes, clearance holes for fasteners, and precision-diameter holes in steel, aluminum, and similar materials. The NAS specification designation indicates compliance with established aerospace and industrial tooling standards, making it appropriate for shops that require documented material and geometry conformance. It is sold individually and intended for use by machinists, millwrights, HVAC technicians, electricians, and plumbers who need precise small-diameter holes in metal substrates.
Designed as a standard jobber-length drill bit with a straight-cylindrical shank sized at 0.1360 inches, compatible with any drill chuck or collet system accepting that shank diameter in handheld drills, drill presses, and CNC machining centers.
Install in a properly rated drill chuck or collet and confirm the shank is fully seated and securely tightened before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous metals to manage heat and extend bit life. Match spindle speed to the material being drilled - harder materials require lower RPM. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or dulling is observed, as a worn split point will increase thrust and reduce hole quality.
