The HERTEL 66692112 is a screw machine length cobalt drill bit designed for high-production drilling in ferrous metals, stainless steel, and other hard materials. Sized at wire gauge 35 (0.1100 inches / 7/64 inches), it features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and requires no center punch. The TiN (titanium nitride) coating increases surface hardness and extends tool life in demanding applications. The overall length of 1-7/8 inches and shortened flute length keep rigidity high, making this bit well suited for CNC machines, drill presses, and screw machine setups where stub-length tooling is required. Intended for use by machinists, tool and die tradespeople, and industrial maintenance technicians.
This bit is a standard choice for production shops drilling small-diameter holes in carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless. The screw machine (stub) length reduces deflection compared to jobber-length bits, which is especially useful when drilling on automated or multi-spindle equipment. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without adapters. Web-thinned geometry with a parallel web configuration improves chip evacuation and reduces thrust force, which matters in tight-tolerance applications.
Designed as a screw machine length stub drill for use in standard drill chucks, CNC machining centers, and multi-spindle screw machines accepting a 0.1100-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and other hard ferrous materials.
Install the bit securely in a drill chuck or collet rated for the 0.1100-inch shank diameter before use. Always wear appropriate eye protection and ensure the workpiece is clamped or fixtured before starting the cut. Use cutting fluid or coolant where possible to manage heat, particularly in stainless or hard alloy applications. Inspect the cutting edge and coating condition before each use and remove from service if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
