The HERTEL 66691916 is a cobalt screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in hard and abrasive materials. Built to wire gauge Size 15, it measures 0.1800 inches in diameter with an overall length of 2-3/16 inches and a flute length of 1-1/8 inches. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements, while the titanium nitride (TiN) coating extends wear life in production drilling environments. The web-thinned, parallel web configuration further improves chip evacuation and cutting efficiency. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and metalworking tradespeople use this bit for repetitive, close-tolerance hole-making in ferrous and non-ferrous stock.
This bit fits standard screw machine drilling applications where a shorter overall length provides added rigidity and reduced deflection. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly in drill chucks, collets, and quick-change tooling without modification. Typical use cases include production drilling on manual or CNC drill presses, lathes, and milling machines. The heavy-duty cobalt construction handles stainless steel, tool steel, cast iron, and other hard alloys that would accelerate wear in standard high-speed steel tooling. The right-hand cutting direction is compatible with conventional spindle rotation on virtually all machine tools.
Designed as a direct-fit screw machine length drill bit for use in drill chucks, collets, and quick-change holders accepting a 0.1800-inch straight shank, across manual and CNC drilling equipment.
Installation is performed by machinists and metalworking tradespeople using standard chuck or collet tooling. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered off before changing tooling. Secure the shank fully within the chuck or collet to the recommended engagement depth to prevent pullout under load. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for cobalt tooling in the specific workpiece material.
