The HERTEL 62852272 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiAlN coating, it delivers heat resistance and wear performance suited to ferrous metals, stainless steels, and other hard-to-machine alloys. The coarse-pitch spiral flute geometry breaks chips into manageable segments, reducing heat buildup and cutting forces during heavy stock removal passes. With a 3/4 inch mill diameter, 4 right-hand spiral flutes, and a 1.25 inch length of cut, this tool is a standard selection for roughing cavities, slots, and profiles on vertical and horizontal milling machines.
This end mill is suited to production and job-shop environments where fast metal removal rates are the priority before a finish pass. The 3/4 inch shank diameter fits standard R8, CAT, BT, and HSK toolholders commonly found on knee mills and CNC machining centers. Right-hand cutting direction makes it compatible with conventional climb-milling setups. The non-center-cutting geometry means it requires a pre-drilled or pre-bored entry point and is not suited for plunge operations. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians performing repair milling work are the primary users.
Designed as a direct-fit roughing end mill for any milling machine or CNC machining center accepting a 3/4 inch straight shank via collet, end mill holder, or set-screw toolholder.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening; under-engagement is a leading cause of tool pullout under heavy cutting loads. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after clamping when tolerances are critical.
