The HERTEL 61699674 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-speed steel drilling in general-purpose machining applications. Built from high-speed steel with an oxide coating, this bit handles a wide range of materials encountered in production and maintenance work. The No. 11 wire size corresponds to a decimal diameter of 0.1910 inches, and the 118-degree standard point angle suits most common drilling tasks. The short overall length of 2.25 inches provides added rigidity, reducing deflection in screw machine and CNC turret setups. Two spiral flutes clear chips efficiently during the cut. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drill press, lathe, and screw machine use.
This bit is suited for general-purpose drilling in metalworking environments, including production shops, maintenance facilities, and machine shops running screw machines or turret lathes. The screw machine length body is shorter than jobber-length bits, making it the preferred choice when rigidity matters more than reach. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports standard depth holes in steel, aluminum, cast iron, and similar materials. Machinists and tool-room technicians are the primary users. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks and collets without adapters.
Designed as a general-purpose screw machine length drill bit suitable for use in standard drill chucks, collet holders, and turret lathe tooling that accept straight cylindrical shanks in the 0.1500 to 0.2000 inch diameter range.
Installation is performed by machinists or tool-room technicians in machine shop environments. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before drilling. Follow applicable ANSI safety standards for rotating cutting tools, including the use of proper work-holding and eye protection. Do not exceed the recommended speed and feed ranges for the workpiece material and drill diameter.
