The HERTEL 45676566 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed to bring bored or drilled holes to precise final diameter in metalworking applications. At 0.381 inches in diameter with a 3.5 inch overall length and a 1.25 inch straight flute length, this reamer is built for tight-tolerance finishing work on machine tools. The straight shank mounts directly in a drill chuck or collet holder. Six right-hand cutting flutes and a bright polished finish reduce cutting resistance and help clear chips efficiently. Machinists and tool-room technicians use this type of reamer where dimensional accuracy and surface finish inside a bore are critical to final part function.
This chucking reamer suits production and job-shop machining environments where holes must be finished to close tolerances. The 0.381 inch diameter falls within the 0.350 to 0.399 inch decimal inch range, making it applicable for reaming dowel pin holes, bearing bores, and precision fit features in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It is intended for use in CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, and drill presses equipped with appropriate workholding. The solid carbide construction supports higher cutting speeds than high-speed steel alternatives and holds edge geometry longer in abrasive materials.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in any machine tool spindle accepting a straight-shank tool at the appropriate collet or chuck size.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with reaming operations. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before loading or removing the reamer. Secure the straight shank fully in a collet or drill chuck to the correct grip length before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material and never force a reamer through an undersized pre-drilled hole, as carbide is brittle and susceptible to breakage under side load.
