The HERTEL 45676368 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machining applications. With a reamer diameter of 0.354 inches and a 6-flute straight flute geometry, this tool delivers accurate, smooth bores in a single pass. The bright, uncoated solid carbide construction provides rigidity and wear resistance suited for tight-tolerance work. The straight cylindrical shank allows straightforward mounting in standard chucks or collet holders. At 3.5 inches overall length with a 1.25-inch flute length, it is well proportioned for through-hole and shallow blind-hole finishing on CNC machining centers and manual machines alike. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional spindle operation.
This chucking reamer is used in metal removal and finishing operations where bore size accuracy and surface finish are critical. Typical applications include production machining of steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials in job shops and manufacturing environments. The solid carbide substrate maintains dimensional stability at elevated cutting speeds compared to high-speed steel alternatives. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this style of reamer as a final sizing step after drilling or boring to achieve H7 or similar close-tolerance fits.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard straight-shank toolholders, collet chucks, and drill chucks on CNC and manual machining equipment requiring a 0.354 inch finished bore diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is securely clamped in the holder before beginning a cut. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to promote tool life and surface finish. Do not use chucking reamers to remove excessive stock — pre-drill or bore to within 0.005 to 0.010 inches of final diameter before reaming.
