The HERTEL 45676244 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed to produce accurate, finished-diameter holes in machined workpieces. With a 0.341-inch diameter and a bright uncoated finish, this reamer is ground for right-hand cutting and delivers consistent bore sizing across a range of materials. The straight flute geometry provides clean chip evacuation in through-hole and short blind-hole applications. A total of six flutes distribute cutting load evenly, reducing chatter and improving surface finish. At 3.5 inches overall length with a 1.25-inch flute length, this tool fits standard chucking setups on CNC lathes, machining centers, and drill presses.
This chucking reamer is suited for production and toolroom environments where precise hole finishing is required. The straight cylindrical shank seats securely in drill chucks, collet chucks, and floating holders used on CNC and manual turning or milling equipment. The solid carbide construction makes it appropriate for finishing hardened steels, cast iron, aluminum alloys, and other materials where high-speed steel tooling wears prematurely. It is commonly specified for close-tolerance hole work in light industrial, aerospace, and general machining applications.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in any machine tool spindle accepting a straight-shank tool of this diameter, including CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and drill presses equipped with drill chucks or collet holders.
Chucking reamers should be installed and removed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and the workpiece securely fixtured. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck or collet is tightened to the tool holder manufacturer specification before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to prevent galling and premature edge wear. Reamers should not be used to remove excessive material; pre-drill or bore the hole to within a few thousandths of final size before reaming.
