The HERTEL 45675790 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machining applications. With a 0.283-inch reamer diameter and six straight flutes, it delivers tight tolerances and a bright polished finish on the final bore diameter. The straight shank mounts directly in a drill chuck or collet holder, making it compatible with standard machine setups. At 3.25 inches overall length with a 1.125-inch flute length, this reamer is suited for shallow to moderate depth finish reaming passes. It cuts in the right-hand direction. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this type of reamer as a final step after drilling to bring a hole to precise dimensional spec.
This chucking reamer is used in production and job-shop machining environments where accurate hole sizing is required. It is appropriate for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and manual mills or lathes equipped with a drill chuck or collet. Typical applications include finishing clearance holes, bearing bores, and dowel pin holes where surface finish and diameter accuracy are critical. The solid carbide construction makes it well-suited for harder workpiece materials and high-cycle production work compared to high-speed steel alternatives.
Designed as an OEM-style machine reamer for use in drill presses, manual lathes, and CNC machining centers accepting straight-shank tooling in the appropriate diameter range.
This reamer should be installed by a qualified machinist following standard toolroom practices. Always confirm the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before inserting or removing the tool from the chuck or collet. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain bore finish quality. Do not use a chucking reamer to remove excessive stock — pre-drill or bore the hole to within a few thousandths of the final diameter before reaming.
