The HERTEL 45675493 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machined components. With a 0.237-inch diameter and a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer delivers accurate sizing in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where tight tolerances are required. The four-flute, straight-flute geometry provides stable cutting action and consistent chip evacuation. At 3 inches overall length with a 1-inch flute length and a straight cylindrical shank, it mounts directly into standard drill chucks or collet holders on CNC machining centers, lathes, and manual mills. Right-hand cutting direction is standard. This tool is typically installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This chucking reamer is suited for finish-reaming pre-drilled or bored holes to close dimensional tolerances in production and job-shop environments. It performs well in aluminum, brass, cast iron, and mild steel applications where a smooth bore finish and precise diameter are required. The solid carbide construction makes it a strong choice for harder materials and higher-speed applications compared to high-speed steel alternatives. The straight shank allows use in a wide range of standard workholding configurations without additional adapters in most setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use chucking reamer for standard drill chucks, ER collet holders, and straight-shank toolholders on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and engine lathes accepting a straight cylindrical shank in the 0.237-inch diameter class.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard toolroom practices. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the reamer from the toolholder. Secure the straight shank firmly in the chuck or collet to the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping torque to prevent slippage during the cut. Always use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material and inspect the reamer for chipping or wear before each use, as carbide tooling is brittle and should not be used if edge damage is present.
