The HERTEL 45675485 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking applications. With a reamer diameter of 0.2365 inches and a 4-flute straight flute geometry, it delivers consistent sizing and surface finish in pre-drilled or bored holes. The straight shank mounts directly in a drill chuck or collet. At 3 inches overall length with a 1 inch flute length, this reamer suits short-reach finishing operations on CNC machines, drill presses, and manual lathes. The bright polished finish reduces friction and helps with chip evacuation. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional clockwise spindle rotation.
This chucking reamer is suited for precision finishing of through-holes and blind holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals where tight dimensional tolerances are required. The solid carbide construction handles harder workpiece materials and higher cutting speeds compared to high-speed steel alternatives. Typical applications include fixture and tooling work, close-tolerance bore finishing in production and job shop environments, and reaming of drilled holes to final size before assembly of pins or bushings. A licensed machinist or toolroom technician installs and operates this tool in standard machine tool setups.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard drill chucks, ER collet systems, and machine tool spindles accepting straight-shank tooling in the appropriate diameter range.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the reamer from its holder. Ensure the straight shank is fully seated and the chuck or collet is torqued to the machine manufacturer specifications before starting the spindle. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain bore finish quality.
