The HERTEL 44839413 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers the heat resistance and edge toughness required for tough ferrous and non-ferrous stock. The 1/2-inch diameter tool features four flutes with a coarse pitch and right-hand cutting and flute direction, making it suited for high chip-load roughing passes. It is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals operating manual or CNC milling machines in job shop and production environments.
This end mill is intended for roughing cuts where rapid stock removal takes priority over surface finish. The coarse-pitch flute geometry helps evacuate chips efficiently and reduces chatter during heavy cuts. With a 1-inch length of cut and 3-inch overall length, it fits standard tool holders accepting a 1/2-inch shank. It is a practical choice for general metalworking, mold and die roughing, and prototype machining in both job shop and light production settings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling option for milling machines and machining centers accepting a 1/2-inch straight shank end mill holder or collet chuck.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before mounting or removing the tool from the holder. Secure the shank to the full depth recommended by the tool holder manufacturer and verify runout before cutting. This end mill is not designed for plunge entry — use a ramp or helical entry toolpath when beginning a cut.
