The HERTEL 44839173 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers elevated heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The coarse-pitch, 3-flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation during heavy cuts. With a 0.25-inch mill diameter and a 0.3125-inch length of cut, this end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and roughing passes where fast stock removal is the priority. It measures 2.125 inches in overall length and weighs approximately 0.011 pounds. Installation and use require a compatible 0.375-inch shank holder.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines where roughing operations are performed on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Its right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with standard spindle configurations. The coarse pitch helps reduce chatter and loading during interrupted cuts or when milling harder alloys. It is a single-end tool, meaning it is not reversible, and is sized for light-duty to medium-duty milling setups common in job shops and maintenance machining environments.
Designed as a direct-fit roughing end mill for any milling machine or machining center equipped with a 0.375-inch end mill holder, collet chuck, or Weldon-style holder accepting a 0.25-inch diameter single-end tool.
This end mill is installed by machinists into a compatible 0.375-inch shank holder; ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after seating the tool to avoid premature wear or dimensional error. Because this is a non-center-cutting end mill, do not plunge directly into solid material — use a ramping or helical entry path, or begin from an existing bore or slot edge.
