The HERTEL 44839033 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in metalworking and machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, it delivers heat resistance and edge durability during heavy chip-load cuts. The mill measures 9/16 inch (0.5625 inch) in diameter with a 1/2 inch shank, a 1-3/8 inch length of cut, and a 3-3/8 inch overall length. With 4 flutes in a coarse pitch configuration, this tool is suited for roughing passes where fast stock removal takes priority over surface finish. Cutting direction and flute direction are both right-hand.
This end mill is used in milling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals where high heat generation and tough alloys demand a cobalt substrate over standard HSS. Typical applications include rough profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling on manual knee mills and CNC machining centers. The center-cutting geometry allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled start hole, adding setup flexibility. The 1/2 inch shank fits standard ER and end mill holders commonly found in most shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill for use in standard 1/2 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and ER-style toolholders on vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended engagement depth and torque the set screw or collet nut per the holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use.
