The HERTEL 44838795 is a single-end roughing end mill engineered for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it offers heat and wear resistance suited for interrupted cuts and tough workpiece materials. The 1/2-inch diameter, 4-flute fine-pitch design produces a characteristic corncob profile that breaks chips quickly and reduces cutting pressure. With a 1-5/8-inch length of cut and 3-5/8-inch overall length, it fits standard milling machine and machining center tool holders. This tool is installed by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators working in job shops and production environments.
This roughing end mill is designed for use in vertical and horizontal milling machines as well as CNC machining centers. It is well suited for roughing passes on ferrous metals, stainless steel, and other materials where a standard high-speed steel tool would lose edge life prematurely. The single-end configuration and right-hand cut with right-hand flute direction make it a direct-load tool for conventional and climb milling setups. The 1/2-inch shank diameter matches the 1/2-inch mill diameter for straightforward collet or end mill holder setup.
Designed for use in standard 1/2-inch collets and end mill holders on vertical mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers. No specific OEM machine model compatibility was stated in the product data.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before loading or removing the tool from its holder. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention nut to the machine manufacturer specification — do not rely on feel alone. Because this is a non-center-cutting tool, it must be ramped in or side-loaded; plunge entry is not appropriate for this design.
