The HERTEL 42130 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for drilling into hard and abrasive materials where standard high-speed steel bits fall short. Built from M35 cobalt steel with a 135-degree split point, this bit self-centers on contact and reduces walking on curved or slick surfaces. The bright oxide finish and 2-flute regular spiral configuration clear chips efficiently during drilling. At 2.875 inches overall length with a 1.75-inch flute length, it fits standard drill chucks without modification. Licensed tradespeople, machinists, and industrial maintenance techs reach for cobalt bits when working with stainless steel, hardened steels, and other high-strength alloys.
This bit is sized at 9/64 inch (0.1406 inch decimal equivalent) and suited for precision hole-making in demanding shop and field environments. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard three-jaw chucks on corded drills, drill presses, and CNC machines. Its heavy-duty M35 grade cobalt construction handles the heat generated when drilling stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened materials that would rapidly dull standard twist drills. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio delivers adequate chip clearance for the bit diameter without sacrificing rigidity.
Designed as a standard jobber-length drill bit for use in any drill press, hand drill, or CNC spindle accepting a straight-shank bit of 9/64 inch diameter. Primary workpiece materials listed are stainless steel and hardened metals.
Installation of this bit should be performed by a qualified machinist, maintenance technician, or trade professional familiar with cutting tool safety. Always ensure the drill or press is fully powered down and de-energized before changing bits. Secure the shank firmly in the chuck to the full depth of the chuck jaws to prevent slippage under load. When drilling stainless steel or hardened materials, use an appropriate cutting fluid to manage heat and extend bit life.
