The HERTEL 42060 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for demanding metalworking and fabrication applications. Measuring 11/16 inches (0.6875 inches) in diameter with a 7-5/8 inch overall length and a 5-5/8 inch flute length, this bit delivers the reach needed for through-hole drilling in thicker stock. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and allows the bit to self-center without a pilot hole. An oxide and gold coating adds surface hardness and helps resist heat buildup during extended use. Right-hand cut with a regular spiral flute pattern makes this a standard choice for HVAC fab shops, pipefitters, electricians, and general metal tradespeople drilling into steel, stainless, and hard alloys.
This drill bit fits standard jobber-length applications where a full cobalt construction is required to handle work-hardening materials such as stainless steel, cast iron, and high-tensile alloys. The straight cylindrical shank seats in standard three-jaw drill chucks on benchtop drill presses and hand-held power drills. It is well suited for on-site and shop use in HVAC ductwork fabrication, plumbing rough-in, and electrical panel work where accurate, clean holes in metal are required without the need for a center punch when a split-point geometry is used.
Designed as a standard jobber-length replacement drill bit compatible with any three-jaw drill chuck accepting a straight cylindrical shank at 11/16 inch diameter.
This bit is installed and operated by machinists, fabricators, and trade professionals using benchtop drill presses or hand-held power drills. Always secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling stainless steel or other hard alloys to extend bit life and maintain dimensional accuracy. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or dulling is observed. Follow applicable shop safety codes and wear appropriate eye protection during all drilling operations.
