The HERTEL 4140497 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit with a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) coating, designed for high-performance holemaking in demanding materials. The 135-degree split point reduces walking at entry and lowers thrust force compared to conventional 118-degree geometry. The web-thinned, tapered web construction improves chip evacuation during drilling. At 2.25 inches overall length with a 1-17/64-inch spiral flute, this bit is sized for standard jobber-length applications. It cuts right-hand with a regular spiral and carries a straight-cylindrical shank at 0.0925 inches diameter. Installation and use are typical for machining and fabrication professionals working with harder steels, stainless, or high-temp alloys.
This drill bit is suited for holemaking operations where tool life and hole quality in tough base materials are priorities. The TiAlN coating provides elevated heat resistance, making it appropriate for dry or minimal-lubrication drilling in harder materials. The 2.35 mm diameter (0.0925 inches decimal) fits applications requiring tight metric sizing. Typical use environments include machine shops, fabrication facilities, and MRO operations. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 12 units per order.
Designed as a jobber-series replacement or substitute for holemaking applications requiring a 2.35 mm (0.0925 inch) straight-cylindrical shank cobalt drill bit; fits any standard drill chuck or collet accepting a 0.0925-inch shank diameter.
This bit is installed and operated by machinists or tooling technicians using standard drill chucks, collets, or CNC tool holders rated for the shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is secure before seating or removing the bit. Follow shop-specific feeds and speeds for cobalt tooling in the target material — do not exceed the rated geometry by using excessive feed force. Inspect the cutting edge and coating before each use; a chipped split point will reduce hole quality and increase the risk of bit failure.
