The HERTEL 4140372 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for demanding holemaking in hard and abrasive materials. It carries a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) coating that extends cutting edge life by reducing heat buildup and resisting wear at elevated temperatures. The bit is wire size 45, which corresponds to a decimal diameter of 0.0820 inches, and features a 135-degree split point for fast penetration and reduced walking on entry. With an overall length of 2.125 inches and a flute length of 1.125 inches, it fits standard drill chucks and is sized for precision work in tight clearances. This is a right-hand cutting tool intended for professional trade and industrial use.
This drill bit is suited for holemaking in stainless steel, hardened materials, and other ferrous alloys that generate high cutting temperatures. The heavy-duty grade cobalt steel construction handles the heat and stress that would degrade standard high-speed steel bits. Typical applications include mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing fabrication work where accurate small-diameter holes are required in tough base materials. The split point geometry allows drilling without a center punch on most surfaces, which speeds up workflow on the job site or in the shop.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber drill bit compatible with standard 3-jaw drill chucks accepting a 0.0820-inch round shank, suitable for drill presses, hand drills, and CNC drilling applications requiring wire size 45 tooling.
Install and remove drill bits only when the drill or drill press is fully powered down and the chuck is stationary. Secure the shank fully in the chuck jaws and verify concentricity before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel or hardened materials to prolong tool life, even though this bit does not have through-coolant capability. Eye protection and proper workpiece clamping are required per standard shop safety practices.
