The HERTEL 4140281 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for demanding holemaking in hard and abrasive materials. Ground to wire gauge size No. 36 with a decimal diameter of 0.1065 inches, it features a 135-degree split point that starts on contact and reduces walking without a center punch. The TiAlN coating increases surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in ferrous metals and stainless. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 1.4375-inch flute, it fits standard drill chucks with a straight cylindrical shank. Right-hand, regular spiral flutes clear chips efficiently. Intended for installation and fabrication professionals who need a reliable, small-diameter bit for tight-tolerance work.
This jobber drill is suited for metal fabrication shops, mechanical contractors, and maintenance technicians drilling small-diameter holes in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials. The heavy-duty cobalt construction handles interrupted cuts and high-heat applications where high-speed steel bits fail prematurely. The web-thinned, tapered web design reduces thrust and improves centering. Typical applications include pilot holes, through-holes in structural members, and precision holemaking where hole quality and bit longevity matter.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 0.1065-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for benchtop drill presses, hand drills, and CNC drilling operations within the 0.1000 to 0.1500 inch drill bit size range.
Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck and verify runout before drilling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel or hardened alloys to preserve coating life, noting this bit does not support coolant-through operation. Wear appropriate eye protection per shop safety standards. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or excessive wear is visible.
