The HERTEL 4139572 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for heavy-duty holemaking in ferrous and hard materials. It features a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) coating that extends tool life by reducing heat buildup and surface wear at high cutting speeds. The 135-degree split point reduces thrust requirements and self-centers on contact, minimizing the need for a center punch. With a right-hand spiral flute and web-thinned, tapered web construction, this bit is suited for production environments and job sites where hole quality and tool longevity matter. It is installed and used by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals working with drill presses, CNC equipment, or portable power tools.
This drill bit is intended for applications requiring precise, repeatable holes in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials where standard high-speed steel tooling wears prematurely. The jobber-length configuration balances reach and rigidity for general-purpose holemaking. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard three-jaw chucks across drill press and handheld applications. The TiAlN coating makes it particularly effective in dry or minimal-lubrication cutting conditions at elevated temperatures.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber drill bit for use in standard three-jaw drill chucks accepting a 3/32 inch straight-cylindrical shank, compatible with drill presses, CNC drilling equipment, and handheld power drills across industrial and trade applications.
Install into a properly sized chuck and tighten securely before operation. Ensure the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement during drilling. Follow applicable OSHA machine guarding and PPE requirements for rotating tooling. Inspect the cutting edge before use and replace if chipping or coating loss is visible, as a damaged edge increases the risk of workpiece damage and breakage.
