The HERTEL 41120734 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating, this tool handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials with a 0.5 inch cutting diameter and a 1.25 inch length of cut. The fine-pitch, 4-flute geometry produces a smoother chip load distribution compared to coarse-pitch roughs, making it well suited for controlled hogging passes on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. Overall length is 3.25 inches and the shank diameter matches the cutter at 0.5 inch.
This end mill is intended for use in ferrous and non-ferrous metal cutting applications where rapid stock removal is required before a finishing pass. The TiCN coating extends tool life by reducing heat buildup and surface friction at the cutting edge. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation follow standard milling convention. Regular length geometry fits directly into standard collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style toolholders without extended-reach adapters. Machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance technicians performing prototype or production work will find this tool a direct drop-in for typical half-inch tooling setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling option for any setup requiring a 0.5 inch shank, single-end roughing end mill in a collet chuck, Weldon shank holder, or end mill adapter rated for half-inch tooling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a locked-out, de-energized state before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the minimum engagement depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer — typically at least 1 inch of shank engagement. Inspect the collet or holder for runout before resuming cuts, as excessive runout accelerates flute wear on cobalt tooling.
