The HERTEL 41120619 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiCN coating, it delivers improved wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to standard HSS tooling. The 0.5 inch diameter cutter runs 4 right-hand flutes in a coarse pitch configuration, which channels chips efficiently and reduces chatter during heavy roughing passes. With a 1.25-inch length of cut and a 3.25-inch overall length, this tool suits standard vertical mill and CNC machining center setups. It is center-cutting, allowing plunge entry. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for roughing operations in job shops, production machining environments, and maintenance shops. The coarse pitch flute geometry is particularly effective when removing large amounts of stock from steel, alloy steel, and similar ferrous materials before finishing passes. The regular length profile makes it compatible with standard ER and side-lock toolholders sized for a 0.5 inch shank. It is a direct drop-in for any application calling for a 1/2 inch cobalt roughing end mill with a 1-1/4 inch length of cut.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for 1/2 inch single-end cobalt roughing end mills requiring a 1-1/4 inch length of cut and 3-1/4 inch overall length in standard ER collet, side-lock, or Weldon-style toolholders.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard toolholding procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder to the recommended engagement depth and torque the setscrew or collet nut per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before mounting, and verify runout with a dial indicator when tight tolerances are required.
