The HERTEL 4006163 is a straight-shank indexable insert drill designed for precision hole-making in metal cutting applications. It accepts two indexable inserts and is compatible with the HPMT063306-GP insert style. The drill body measures 6.209 inches in overall body length with a 3/4-inch (0.750 inch) drill diameter and a 1-inch straight cylindrical shank. Maximum drill depth reaches 3.0 inches at a 4xD depth-to-diameter ratio, with a depth range extending to 4.0 inches. Coolant-through capability is built in via a 1/4-inch threaded coolant hole at the shank end, supporting chip evacuation and tool life in demanding bore operations. Weighing approximately 0.8 pounds, this drill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual drilling operations where consistent hole geometry is required.
This indexable insert drill is used in production and job-shop metal cutting environments where repeated, accurate hole sizing is needed without full tool replacement. The 4xD ratio makes it appropriate for moderate-depth bores in materials commonly encountered in general machining. Right-hand cutting direction is standard. The straight cylindrical shank fits conventional drill chucks and tool holders sized for 1-inch shank tooling. Applications include structural steel, alloy steel, and similar workpiece materials typical in industrial machining setups.
Designed for use with HID drill style tooling and compatible with HPMT063306-GP indexable inserts. Fits tool holders and chucks with a 1-inch bore. Consult your tooling system specifications to confirm holder and insert compatibility before installation.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before mounting or changing inserts. Secure the shank firmly in a properly sized tool holder to the holder manufacturer's specified clamping procedure. Inspect inserts for wear or damage before each use and replace as needed to maintain hole quality and protect the tool body.
