The HERTEL 4006125 is a straight-shank indexable insert drill designed for high-productivity hole-making in metal cutting applications. Built to the 4xD depth-to-diameter ratio, it achieves a maximum drill depth of 8 inches with a 2-inch cutting diameter. The body is constructed of steel and accepts two HPMT156812-GP indexable inserts, allowing worn cutting edges to be replaced at the machine without reconditioning the tool body. Coolant is delivered through the shank via a 1/4-inch threaded port, supporting chip evacuation and edge life in demanding cutting conditions. This drill is intended for installation in machining centers and CNC lathes by skilled machinists and tooling specialists.
The 4006125 is suited for production drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where consistent hole quality and rapid cycle times are required. The straight cylindrical shank measures 1.5 inches in diameter and 3 inches in length, making it compatible with standard ER and hydraulic chuck toolholders used on CNC machining centers. The right-hand cutting direction and through-coolant capability make it a practical choice for both horizontal and vertical spindle setups where chip control is critical.
Designed for use with HID-style drill systems and compatible with HPMT156812-GP indexable inserts as specified by the manufacturer. Verify toolholder bore and coolant supply compatibility before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or turret is in a safe, locked position before mounting or removing the drill body. Confirm the toolholder bore matches the 1.5-inch shank diameter and that the coolant supply pressure and thread connection are compatible with the 1/4-inch shank-end port. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting tool length offsets and runout tolerance.
