The HERTEL 4006116 is a straight-shank indexable insert drill designed for high-productivity hole-making in metal cutting applications. Built on a steel body, this drill accepts two indexable inserts in the HID style, delivering a 13/16 inch (0.8125 inch decimal) cutting diameter with a maximum usable drill depth of 2-7/16 inches at a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The 1 inch straight-cylindrical shank provides rigid, concentric holding in standard toolholders. Coolant-through capability via a 1/4 inch threaded shank-end port supports chip evacuation and tool life in interrupted or deep-entry cuts. This drill is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This indexable insert drill suits production environments where consistent hole quality and repeatable insert changeover are priorities. The right-hand cutting direction and straight shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks, hydraulic toolholders, and shrink-fit holders sized for 1 inch shank stock. The 3xD depth ratio positions this drill for through-holes and moderate-depth blind bores in steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials. Insert replacement is performed at the machine without removing the drill body from the spindle, minimizing downtime during high-volume runs.
Designed for use with HPMT063306-GP indexable inserts. Compatible drill style is HID. Fits toolholders accepting a 1 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's setup procedures. Disengage spindle power and lock out the machine before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate insert torx or hex key to the insert manufacturer's specified seating procedure; do not over-tighten insert screws by impact methods. Verify runout and shank clamp torque with a dial indicator after mounting before initiating a cut.
