The HERTEL 4006115 is an indexable insert drill designed for precision hole-making in metal fabrication and machining applications. Built around the HID drill style, this tool accepts two HPMT052804-GP inserts and delivers a maximum drill depth of 1-7/8 inches at a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The 5/8-inch cutting diameter and 1-inch straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard toolholders used in CNC machining centers and manual mills. Constructed from steel, the body measures 5.084 inches in overall length. Coolant-through capability via a 1/4-inch shank-end coolant hole thread supports chip evacuation and heat management during aggressive cuts. Machinists and toolroom professionals specify this drill for consistent, repeatable bore entry in production environments.
This indexable insert drill is suited for use in ferrous and non-ferrous metal cutting where a replaceable-insert system is preferred over solid carbide or high-speed steel alternatives. The right-hand cutting direction and straight-cylindrical shank allow straightforward setup in BT, CAT, or similar toolholder systems. Typical applications include production drilling on CNC machining centers in job shops, aerospace subcontract work, and general manufacturing where hole diameter consistency and insert cost management are priorities.
Designed for use with HPMT052804-GP indexable inserts. The 1-inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard toolholders accepting a 1-inch bore. Verify insert seat condition and toolholder runout tolerance before use.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully in the toolholder to the manufacturer-specified engagement depth and confirm runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts or seating the tool. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for coolant pressure when using the through-coolant feature.
