The HERTEL 4006101 is a straight-shank indexable insert drill designed for precision hole-making in metal cutting applications. Built with a steel body, this drill accepts two HPMT063506-GP style inserts and delivers a maximum drill depth of 2.25 inches at a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The drill diameter measures 0.750 inches (19.05 mm), with a maximum drill diameter of 0.773 inches. A 1-inch straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in compatible tool holders, and coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and heat control during high-feed drilling cycles. Right-hand cutting direction is standard. This tool is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This indexable insert drill is suited for ferrous and non-ferrous metal drilling in vertical machining centers, CNC lathes with live tooling, and manual drill presses equipped with appropriate tool holders. The 3xD ratio makes it well matched to general-purpose through-hole and blind-hole drilling where depth-to-diameter demands fall within moderate range. Coolant-through delivery via the 1/4-inch shank-end coolant hole thread supports higher cutting speeds and extended insert life. Typical applications include production drilling in steel, cast iron, and aluminum workpieces.
Designed for use with HPMT063506-GP indexable inserts. Compatible with machine tool holders accepting a 1-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Verify insert seat geometry and coolant port alignment with your specific machine setup before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician following the machine tool manufacturer's tooling specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before loading or unloading the drill body. Confirm insert seating, torque fasteners to the insert manufacturer's specified values using the correct Torx or hex key, and verify coolant-through connections are clear before starting the cut. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine tool operating procedures throughout setup.
