The HERTEL 4006081 is a straight-shank indexable insert drill designed for high-productivity hole-making in metal cutting applications. It accepts two HPMT063206-GP inserts and cuts a 0.75-inch (19.05 mm) nominal bore diameter, with a maximum achievable drill diameter of 0.773 inches. The drill-to-diameter ratio is 2xD, providing a maximum drill depth of 1.5 inches (38.10 mm). The shank diameter measures 1 inch, and the overall body length is 4.709 inches. Coolant-through capability is included, with a 1/4-inch threaded coolant port at the shank end. Right-hand cutting direction. Intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC lathes, machining centers, and drill presses.
This indexable insert drill is suited for production and job-shop environments where consistent bore quality and insert indexability reduce downtime compared to solid carbide alternatives. The 2xD depth ratio makes it appropriate for shallow-to-moderate depth holes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard toolholders and collet chucks with a 1-inch bore. Coolant-through delivery supports chip evacuation and tool life in higher-feed applications. The collar diameter of 1.299 inches provides a positive stop reference for setup in fixed tooling stations.
Compatible insert style: HPMT063306-GP. Drill style HID. Fits toolholders and collet chucks with a 1-inch straight bore. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit option for HID-style indexable insert drill setups requiring a 3/4-inch diameter, 2xD, straight-shank configuration.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholder torque and runout specifications. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or removing the drill body or indexing inserts. Verify shank seating and coolant-line connection before starting the spindle. Inspect insert pockets and seating surfaces for chips or damage each time inserts are indexed.
