The HERTEL 336-006590 is a solid carbide countersink designed for precision chamfering and deburring of drilled holes in metal, composite, and hard material workpieces. It features a 1/2 inch head diameter, a 120-degree included angle, and 6 flutes that distribute cutting load evenly for a clean, chatter-resistant finish. The 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill press, milling machine, or CNC collet chucks. Solid carbide construction provides superior wear resistance compared to high-speed steel alternatives, making this tool well suited for production environments where tool life and surface finish consistency matter.
This countersink is appropriate for use on machining centers, knee mills, drill presses, and similar machine tool setups in job shop, manufacturing, and maintenance-repair-operations (MRO) environments. The 120-degree included angle is commonly specified for chamfering fastener holes to accept flat-head screws and for edge-breaking on ferrous and non-ferrous stock. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with harder workpiece materials will benefit from the rigidity and edge retention that solid carbide provides over coated HSS options.
Designed for use in drill presses, milling machines, and CNC machining centers accepting a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for chamfering and deburring applications in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a 120-degree included angle is required.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the collet or chuck. Confirm the shank is fully seated and the collet or chuck is torqued to the toolholder manufacturer's specification before initiating a cut. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use, as carbide tools can fail suddenly if operated with damaged geometry.
