The HERTEL 333-004070 is a solid carbide countersink designed for creating clean, chamfered seat angles in metal and other hard materials. It features a 90-degree included angle (45-degree centerline angle) and a 3-flute geometry that produces a smooth finish at the countersink entry. The 5/16-inch head diameter and 1/4-inch straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders. This tool is sold individually and is intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and fabricators working on precision fastener prep in production or maintenance environments.
This countersink is suited for deburring and chamfering drilled holes to accept flat-head or oval-head fasteners requiring a 90-degree seat angle. The bright, uncoated carbide construction makes it appropriate for use on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composite materials where a sharp cutting edge and dimensional accuracy are required. It is a single-end tool with no pilot, intended for use in hand-held drill presses, CNC machining centers, or manual mills.
Designed as a standard 90-degree countersink for use in drill presses, manual mills, and CNC machining centers accepting a 1/4-inch straight shank toolholder or collet.
Countersinks are installed and replaced by machinists or maintenance technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured with appropriate torque before beginning any cut. Use cutting fluid when working with harder ferrous materials to extend tool life. Verify the shank is fully seated and concentric in the holder to prevent runout and premature wear.
