The HERTEL 331-008560 is a single-flute countersink designed for creating conical seat preparations in metal and composite workpieces. It features a 3/4 inch head diameter with an 82-degree included angle, making it suited for standard flat-head fastener seating. The 1/2 inch straight cylindrical shank mounts directly in a drill press chuck or hand drill. Constructed from alloy steel with a bright uncoated finish, it is built for right-hand cutting operations. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians use this countersink for controlled, accurate deburring and seat-forming passes on a range of workpiece materials.
This countersink is rated for use in alloy steel, cast iron, and glass-reinforced plastic workpieces. The single-flute geometry reduces chatter and produces a clean, smooth seat finish in those materials. The 82-degree included angle aligns with standard flat-head machine screw specifications, making it a practical tool for production drilling setups, fixture fabrication, and field maintenance work where consistent fastener seating depth is required.
Designed as a general-purpose countersink for use in alloy steel, cast iron, and glass-reinforced plastic workpieces. Compatible with any drill press, milling machine, or hand drill accepting a 1/2 inch straight cylindrical shank.
Secure the 1/2 inch shank firmly in the chuck before operation and verify that the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement. Apply cutting fluid or lubricant appropriate to the workpiece material when countersinking alloy steel or cast iron to extend tool life and improve finish quality. Use consistent feed pressure and avoid dwelling in the cut, as the single-flute geometry requires steady feed to prevent tool chatter. Inspect the cutting edge for wear before each use and remove chips from the flute between passes.
