The HERTEL 300-005508 is a combination drill and countersink designed for precision hole preparation in metalworking and fabrication applications. Built from solid carbide with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating, this tool delivers extended wear resistance and reduced friction at the cutting edge. It features a 3/4 inch body diameter, a 5/16 inch drill point diameter, and a 118-degree drill point angle. The 60-degree included angle on the countersink portion makes it suited for standard fastener seat preparation. Overall length is 6 inches, and the double-end design extends tool life by providing two usable cutting ends. Right-hand cutting direction. Weight is 0.14 pounds.
This combo drill countersink is used in production machining, maintenance shops, and fabrication environments where operators need to drill a pilot hole and countersink a fastener seat in a single pass. Trade size 8 designates the compatible screw size for countersink geometry. The long-length configuration at 6 inches OAL accommodates applications requiring extended reach. It is installed and operated in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power tools capable of accepting the appropriate shank. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this tooling.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling option for drill presses, CNC machines, and power tools accepting a combination drill-countersink of trade size 8 with a 3/4 inch body diameter and right-hand cutting direction.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the workpiece fully before engaging the tool to prevent movement during cutting. Ensure the spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for solid carbide tooling and the material being cut — refer to the tool manufacturer or machining reference for speeds and feeds. Inspect both cutting ends for chipping or wear before each use; do not operate a damaged carbide tool.
