The HERTEL 300-003004 is a size 2 combination drill and countersink machined from solid carbide for use in metal fabrication, precision machining, and toolroom applications. The tool features a 3/16-inch body diameter, a 5/64-inch drill point diameter, and a 90-degree included angle, making it suitable for center-drilling and countersinking in a single operation. At 2 inches overall length, it is compact enough for use in standard drill presses, CNC lathes, and machining centers. Right-hand cutting direction and a plain cutting edge style keep chip evacuation predictable. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary installers of this type of tooling.
This combo drill countersink is designed for center-drilling operations that prepare workpieces for between-centers turning, as well as for creating countersunk seats on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The double end type allows the tool to be flipped when one end wears, extending usable life. The solid carbide construction makes it appropriate for hardened materials and high-speed applications where high-speed steel tooling would deflect or wear prematurely. It is sold individually as a single-piece unit.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for size 2 combination drill countersinks used in standard toolholding systems on lathes, drill presses, and CNC machining centers accepting 3/16-inch body diameter tooling.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians. Secure the tool firmly in a compatible toolholder or drill chuck rated for the body diameter before operation, and verify spindle speed is appropriate for the workpiece material and tool diameter. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use, as solid carbide is brittle and susceptible to damage from interrupted cuts or improper handling. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or inspecting tooling.
