The HERTEL 28681344 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in tough materials. It features a 21/64 inch (0.3281 inch) diameter with a standard 118-degree split-point geometry and a titanium nitride (TiN) coating that extends cutting edge life and reduces friction. The straight-cylindrical shank and web-thinned, tapered web design improve chip evacuation and reduce entry resistance. With a 4-inch overall length and 2-1/2-inch flute length, this bit fits standard drill chucks and CNC machining centers. It is sold individually and suited for machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabrication professionals.
This drill bit is built for metalworking applications where carbide hardness and TiN coating provide a clear advantage over high-speed steel alternatives. It performs well in cast iron, hardened steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous alloys. The right-hand spiral flute and regular spiral type make it appropriate for conventional drilling operations on manual mills, drill presses, and CNC equipment in production and job-shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or upgrade for jobber-length drill bits in the 0.3000 to 0.3500 inch decimal diameter range, consistent with Series 450 tooling specifications.
Installation is performed by machinists and tool-room technicians. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a keyed or keyless drill chuck before operation. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for carbide tooling in the target material before starting the cut. Do not use this bit in impact drivers or hand-held rotary hammer tools, as carbide is brittle under lateral shock loads.
