The HERTEL 2660877 is a CPMT-style screw-on turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied multilayer TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN coating, this insert is built to handle demanding turning operations across a range of workpiece materials. The insert carries manufacturer grade HC325 and features an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation. At 9.67 mm (0.3807 inches) in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, it fits standard CPMT toolholders. Machinists and tooling technicians install this insert in production and job-shop turning applications.
This insert is suited for turning cast iron and steel workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material groups K and P. The positive rake geometry and T-style chip breaker help manage chip flow during continuous and light interrupted cuts. The screw-on holding method provides rigid, repeatable seating in compatible CPMT toolholders. Typical applications include OD turning of ferrous components in automotive, general machining, and industrial manufacturing environments. The multilayer CVD coating extends tool life by resisting heat and abrasive wear at the cutting edge.
Designed for use in CPMT-style screw-on toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert with a 5/32-inch thickness and CPMT32.52 insert size code. Compatible toolholders must accommodate a 0.1732-inch screw hole diameter and an 11-degree relief angle (clearance code P, tolerance code M).
Tooling changes on CNC lathes and turning centers must be performed with the machine fully stopped and locked out per applicable machine safety procedures. Use the correct torque-limited insert screw driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the screw-on insert without stripping the clamp screw. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamp screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Dispose of worn carbide inserts in accordance with applicable local regulations for carbide and coated cutting tool waste.
