The HERTEL 2558385 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers consistent sizing and smooth surface finishes in through-holes and blind holes. The reamer measures 0.3745 inches in diameter with a 7-inch overall length and a 1.75-inch flute length. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks or collet holders. With 6 right-hand flutes, this tool removes minimal material to bring drilled or bored holes to a precise finished dimension. Machinists and toolroom technicians use this reamer on drill presses, lathes, and machining centers.
This reamer is suited for production and maintenance machining environments where hole diameter accuracy and finish quality are critical. It falls within the 0.3500 to 0.3999 inch diameter range class and is classified as a dowel pin reamer, making it appropriate for applications that require close-tolerance fits for pins, bushings, and similar cylindrical components. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional CNC and manual machine setups. It is sold individually and is intended for professional machine shop, manufacturing, and industrial maintenance use.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill presses, engine lathes, and CNC machining centers equipped with drill chucks or straight-bore collet holders accepting a straight-cylindrical shank.
Reaming should be performed by a qualified machinist following established shop practices. Secure the shank firmly in a drill chuck or collet holder to prevent runout, and ensure the workpiece is rigidly fixtured before cutting. Always apply an appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve finish quality. Do not use this reamer to remove large amounts of material — pre-drill or bore the hole to within a few thousandths of the finished diameter before reaming.
