The HERTEL 2500508 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for high-material-removal-rate milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with TiN (Titanium Nitride), it delivers hardness and wear resistance suited to demanding cutting cycles. The chipbreaker geometry breaks chips into smaller segments, reducing heat buildup and cutting forces during aggressive passes. At 3/8 inches in diameter with a 4-flute configuration and right-hand cut and flute direction, this tool is center-cutting and handles both plunge and lateral entry. It is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production settings.
This end mill is well suited for roughing passes on ferrous and non-ferrous metals where fast stock removal is the priority. The regular-length profile and 7/8 inches length of cut make it a practical choice for shallow-to-moderate pocket milling, slotting, and profiling on vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. The TiN coating extends tool life in steel and cast iron applications. The 3/8 inches shank is compatible with standard ER collets, end mill holders, and set-screw-style toolholders commonly found in production and prototype machining cells.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for 3/8 inches bore end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and set-screw holders used on vertical machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation is performed by machinists using appropriate toolholders torqued per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Verify shank seating depth and runout with a dial indicator before production cutting. Follow shop-specific speeds and feeds guidelines for the workpiece material and machine spindle rating.
