The HERTEL 2500507 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with TiCN, it delivers elevated hardness and wear resistance for high-speed roughing passes. The chipbreaker geometry along the flute edges breaks chips into smaller segments, reducing cutting forces and heat buildup during heavy cuts. At 3/8 inches in diameter with a 7/8-inch length of cut and 2-1/2-inch overall length, this tool fits standard milling chucks and collets used on vertical and horizontal machining centers. Installation and setup are performed by machinists and tool and die professionals.
This end mill is suited for roughing operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals in job shop and production machining environments. The 4-flute, right-hand cutting and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional and climb milling on CNC and manual mills. The regular-length profile makes it appropriate for general-purpose pocketing, slotting, and peripheral milling where reach is not a limiting factor. The TiCN coating provides additional lubricity and surface hardness compared to uncoated carbide, making it a practical choice for toolpaths with consistent radial engagement.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for 3/8-inch collets, end mill holders, and milling chucks on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills accepting regular-length single-end end mills.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before loading or changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention mechanism according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, as carbide tooling is brittle and can fracture if impacted or improperly stored.
